The
Global Education Club
2010-2011 |
Accomplishments:
Global Club
This was a different year for the Global Club. We focused on the Ban The Bag
Project. To help support Fort McMurray's first year with its ban on single-use
plastic bags, and with the help of a grant from BP Oil through their A+ For
Energy Program, we learned about oil, plastic, bags, garbage, composting, and
what makes great reusable bags. The bag Monster was created, with 500 single use
bags, showing how many bags the average person throws out in a year. Everyone in
the school got great bags.
Check out lots of info and great activities on The Bag Ban Website at

Grade 3K Reusable Container Project
Grade 3K increased their number of reusable containers. That along with their healthy snacks (bananas don't have packaging!) won them an EcoVoyageur Award. It was so successful, it prompted the next year's BP Grant project of Waste Free Lunches.
