The Global Education Club

Accomplishments:

Global Club:

• Donated $70 to the Marmot Foundation to help endangered Vancouver Island marmots
• Donated $95 to World Vision. We bought 2 hens, a rooster and a piglet for a family for Christmas.
• Donated $25 to CODE for literacy in lieu of year end medals
• With 3K, they raised $400 for Playpumps International through a Bake Sale see photos
• Recycled juice boxes and cans
• Held 2 Used Book sales
• Promoted anti-racism through a face painting exercise
• Held a Reduce Reuse Recycle poster contest, with reusable bags made from pop bottles as prizes
• Learned about single use versus reusable bags in preparation for the Sept. 1 local bag ban

Other School Efforts:

• Terry Fox Walk/Run
• Christmas Food Bank drive raised 2000 items
• Christmas Bazaar raised $1200 for Santa's Anonymous
• Donated a decorated tree for Festival of Trees. $2500 was raised for the Hospital Foundation
• Quilt made by Grade 2 & 3 French raised $240 for the Festival Of Trees see photos
• Unicef at Halloween coordinated by Mrs. Fedoretz, Mrs. Tatartcheff and Mr. Hayward raised $500. The funds bought 2 School-in-Boxes: 20 desks, 50 soccer balls and supplied 100 classrooms with pencils.
• Hamburger Day raised $586 for Juvenile Diabetes Research
• Food Bank Fun Fair raised $811 for the Food Bank
• Haiti Earthquake: Thousands of dollars raised throughout the district
• Kindergarten and Grade 3 French and English had people new to Canada talk about their countries see photos
• International feast with school community see see photos

Other Beverage Recycling:

• Mme. Jodine's Afternoon K class raised $74, purchased classroom items
• Mrs. Fedoritz donated to the Diabetes Association
• Mr. Hayward's class raised $80 for SPCA
