These poems were inspired by Mark's interview (maggots in the fridge) and Shel Silverstein's poem, "Bear In There" (from A Light In The Attic)

Maggots In The Fridge
by Alana

There are 57 stinky maggots
In the fridge

They are nibbling
On the long white fish
They are slurping
The apple juice
They are gulping
Down the delicious pop
They are chewing
On my tuna sandwich
They are feasting
On the apple pie
Mom opens the door
And falls on the floor.
I think I'll keep them
In there.

How To Make Your Mom Freak Out
by Brandon

I put 15 maggots
In the fridge
One nibbled
On the orange carrots
Two chewed
On the green lettuce
Three gulped
The crunchy celery
Four chomped
The wet butter

Five slurped
The sugary pop
My mom
Opened the door
And fell on the floor
I think I'll leave
The maggots there.

Crunch, Yum
by Taylor

There are hundreds of tiny maggots
In the freezing fridge
They like it in there
Because there's yummy food
They're crunching the mushy hamburgers
Like greedy kids
They're munching the bright red apples
Like they're hard candy canes
They're gulping the white milk
Like they're humans having a feast
They're nibbling the juicy strawberries
Like it's a dainty party
They're feasting on scrumptious grapes
Like there's no tomorrow
Mom opens the door...
and falls to the floor.
I think I'll keep them in there.

93 Maggots In The Fridge
by Logan

There are 93
Maggots in the fridge
Gobbling the food down

With their face in the meat
Chugging down the milk
Crushing the bones

They're nibbling
On the fresh fish
Burping soda pop

When my mom
Opens the fridge
She falls
To the floor

I think I will keep
Them in there

97 Maggots In The Fridge
by Christine

There are 97 maggots
In the fridge
Their faces are feasting
On the meat
They are nibbling
On the rotten fish
Their tails
Are in the enormous
Green jelly
Their bodies are lying
In the ketchup
They are gulping
Down the soda
They are slurping
The orange juice
They are chomping
On the pizza

Mom opens the door
And falls on the floor
I think I will
Keep them in there

The Maggots
by Bryan

There are 100 maggots in my fridge
They like it in there
Because it's very yummy

They have their faces
In the cake
They're slurping
The cold juice

They munch
The soggy bread
They are licking
The bowl of pudding
They are nibbling
The cinnamon apple

Mom opens the door
And falls to the floor
 I decide to leave
The maggots in the fridge
